Empowering Innovators: Where Graduation Meets Entrepreneurship and Industrial Excellence"

As we celebrate the graduation of another cohort of students from Masvingo Polytechnic's Traditional Apprentice Programme (TAP), I am filled with pride and joy, knowing that our institution is playing a critical role in empowering individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to drive economic growth and transformation. My passion for community development drives me to believe that our institution has a vital role to play in industrializing our nation and building thriving communities.

Our TAP offers a wide range of disciplines, including Carpentry and Joinery, Metal Fabrication, Plumbing, Construction, Domestic Electrical Installation, Basic Refrigeration, Electronic Equipment Repair, Motor Mechanics, Garment Making, Cosmetology, Panel Beating, Spray Painting, Diesel Plant Fitting, Tourism and Catering, Information Technology, ECD HIV & AIDS Counselling, Welding, Computer Graphics, and Photography. These programmes are designed to provide students with hands-on experience and practical skills, preparing them for success in their chosen fields.

Our Carpentry and Joinery programme equips students with the skills to create and repair wooden structures, while our Metal Fabrication programme teaches students to design and manufacture metal products. Our Plumbing programme trains students in water supply and sanitation systems, and our Construction programme prepares students for careers in building and civil engineering.

Our efforts are aligned with National Development Strategy One (NDS1), which aims to achieve a prosperous and empowered upper-middle-income society by 2030. We are committed to contributing to the development of a skilled and innovative workforce, capable of driving economic growth and transformation.

Furthermore, our programmes are designed to support the objectives of National Development Strategy Two (NDS2), which focuses on achieving a knowledge-based economy, driven by innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation. We are proud to be part of this journey, empowering our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

In addition, we are embracing the Education 5.0 philosophy, which emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving. We believe that education should be holistic, inclusive, and relevant to the needs of our communities and industries. Our programmes are designed to provide students with a comprehensive education, preparing them for success in their chosen fields.

I would like to extend an invitation to the industry, corporate world, NGOs, and communities to come and support our college projects. Let us partner in various sectors and fashions, bringing expertise to the college through knowledge systems and collaborations. Let us support our programmes through strategic partnerships, and work together to drive development and progress.

Together, we can achieve greatness. Let us join hands and empower our communities, drive innovation, and stimulate economic growth. Congratulations once again to the Class of 2024!
