Masvingo Business Expo set for November

For the first time, Masvingo is going to host a business expo which is going to be held at Flamboyant Hotel from 17th to the 18th of November 2022.

It will be held under the theme “Masvingo Investment Hub Towards Vision 2030.

Zimbabwean National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) chairman for Masvingo province, Andrew Chekani, said as indicated by the theme, they expected Masvingo to be the most preferred investment destination for both local and international investors. 

"The main objectives of the event are, to highlight investment opportunities in Masvingo province, present an opportunity for investors to articulate issues they are facing when trying to invest in Masvingo and to give an opportunity to investment facilitating institutions to articulate requirements for investors to invest in the country," said Chekani .

He said that they were expecting a lot of guests and attendees, and at least 150 exhibitors from various sectors, which includes banking, retail, media, motor industry, agriculture, mining, local authorities, retail estate to showcase what they offer so that the objectives can be realised.

Chekani, who is also the Director of N. Richards Group noted that a lot of activities were lined up, and these included entertainment from local artist and poets.

There will be also an excursion to some places in Masvingo, like Great Zimbabwe monuments, which is a main tourist attraction with its dry stone structures which are the largest in Sub Saharan Africa. Tugwi Mukosi dam will also be another draw card.

Chekani added that representatives from various bodies which include Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ), ZimTrade, Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency (ZIDA), Standard Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) and Local Authorities will also attend the event.

"We have an organizing committee that is comprised of representatives from government and private sector of which Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), Confederation of Zimbabwean Industries (CZI) and Chambers of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are a part, said Chekani.

The Masvingo Business Expo is an event whereby businesses exhibit their products to showcase what they offer and this is the first time the event is being held in Masvingo through a private and public sector partnership. Chekani said they intended to do it annually if they met their expectations.

As the country rallies towards vision 2030, the government is making sure that no one and no place is left behind.
