All set for Masvingo Fashion Show

Zubair Lambat................................ Masvingo First ever fashion show will take place on the 12th of March 2022. The inaugural show will see various clothing designers, makeup artists, hairdressers coming together to display their talents. Speaking to Great Zimbabwe Times the Fashion Show promoter Mr Zubair Lambat, who the Director Ali and Co, emphasized that the show has come at a time where clothing designers in Masvingo are facing challenges in penetrating fully In their market due to lack of marketing and exposure. ‘For the past 54 years, Ali and company’s policy is to promote our clients as well as the people of the community at large.We have successfully managed to bring together all the independent sewists(designer and tailor) women and men in the textile industry, and to enable them to help one another in times of need. Our aim is to bring tailors together and formulate a hub, which will enable them to be fully identified with their skills. The idea came up when I discovered that there is talent in Masvingo and yet there is lack of exposure and formalization of their skills and expertise.’ The fashion show will bring designers together to exhibit their designs to the public. The judges have already been put in place to select winners who will walk away with various prices. About 20 participants will exhibit at the Fashion show. The events coordinator Tendai Tichaurawa of Lesley Designs highlighted that ‘it’s critical for designers to showcase their brands because that is how they can be recognized and that is how their talents can be harnessed. Masvingo designers can serve its own market. There will be not any need of going to other towns to look for best designers.’ Tailors will showcase wedding gowns, corporate wear, lobola wear for both male and female, men’s suits, kids dresses, ladies dresses and other different clothes ‘We encourage companies and large organizations to come and see what they are made of. ‘ She emphasized
